In the past, operators requiring halogen-free (PVC-free) cables had no choice and were obliged to use PUR cables, which offer outstanding mechanical performance but are significantly more expensive than PVC-sheathed cables. To provide customers with an efficient yet cost-effective alternative, in 2016, Nexans developed the new MOTIONLINE® HALEX cable series, a range of halogen-free flexible automation cables for industrial applications.
Towards more sustainable and tailored solutions
Nexans teams designed these cables to better cater to customer needs: flexible, robust, drag-chain-capable and flame-retardant, low additional costs compared to PVC cables. The HALEX cables do not contain halogens and, like PUR cables, are flame-retardant. Nexans also focused on providing a greener option that does not release any toxic or irritant gases in the event of a fire.
“ We’re very proud of what we are able to offer with the HALEX range. The cables are ideal for meeting the demand for PVC-free cables without having to compromise on functionality. It is also helping us to meet our target of reducing environmentally harmful PVC ”
