Solar farm in Morocco

Nexans, together with its partners, has been awarded the Noor Atlas project, a major initiative covering the supply of cables and power transformation solutions for the solar energy collection and transmission network. Led by Masen, with the involvement of ONEE and Cluster ENR, the project marks a new milestone in the deployment of renewable energy in Morocco.

The Noor Atlas program includes the development of six photovoltaic power plants located across the country, with a total installed capacity of approximately 305 MW. Scheduled for progressive commissioning starting in 2027, the project will contribute to strengthening renewable electricity generation, improving power supply in several regions, and supporting Morocco’s broader climate and energy ambitions.

Beyond its energy scope, Noor Atlas is fully aligned with the country’s national energy transition strategy and highlights a critical challenge: the ability to build a strong and sustainable local industrial ecosystem around large-scale infrastructure projects. In this context, Nexans Morocco will deliver cables and power transformation solutions that are essential to ensuring the performance, reliability, and efficiency of the electrical network.

All solutions provided for the project will be designed and manufactured locally in Morocco, leveraging the expertise of Nexans teams on the ground. This “Made in Morocco” approach enables the company to meet the highest technical standards required for large-scale energy projects, while also contributing to the development of the national industrial base and generating long-term economic value.

The energy transition can only deliver sustainable value if it is built on a strong and integrated local industrial base.

Through Noor Atlas, Morocco demonstrates its ambition to combine renewable energy development with industrial growth. The project also reflects a collaborative dynamic between public institutions, industrial players, and ecosystem partners, fostering the emergence of a competitive and resilient value chain for energy infrastructure.

With a long-standing presence in Morocco, Nexans continues to support the transformation of the country’s energy system by combining technological expertise, innovation, and strong local anchoring. This project illustrates the Group’s conviction that the energy transition goes beyond renewable energy generation and relies equally on the development of high-performance electrical infrastructure and a robust industrial ecosystem.
