CIGRE 2026 event background

CIGRE 2026

Advancing power transmission reliability August 23-28, 2026

Nexans will be exhibiting at the CIGRE Paris Session 2026, the world’s leading gathering for power system experts, held from 23 to 28 August 2026 at the Palais des Congrès, Paris.

Visit us at Level 2, Stand B121, where our teams will showcase the latest innovations shaping the resilience, performance, and sustainability of transmission grids worldwide, from subsea repair readiness to next-generation overhead lines and superconducting technologies.

What to discover at the Nexans booth

Subsea cables

As offshore wind capacity and cross-border interconnection expand globally, subsea cables have become critical infrastructure for transporting renewable electricity reliably across regions and continents. Nexans draws on decades of subsea cable engineering, laying, and repair expertise, from shallow water to extreme depths, to support transmission system operators worldwide. At CIGRE 2026, this expertise comes together through IMR, the Modular Repair Deck, and SURFICAL: three complementary solutions for keeping subsea links operational and reliable.

IMR — Inspection, Maintenance and Repair

With decades of subsea cable expertise, Nexans’ Inspection, Maintenance and Repair (IMR) services help transmission system operators reduce downtime, mitigate risk, and protect critical energy infrastructure. As offshore wind capacity and cross-border interconnectors expand worldwide, IMR agreements combine anticipation, monitoring, and rapid intervention to safeguard grid continuity, with response times cut significantly thanks to Nexans’ 24/7 mobilization capability and decades-long repair track record.

Subsea cable resilience: Why Europe must rethink Inspection, Maintenance and Repair (IMR)

A single subsea cable failure can have immediate, system-wide consequences. As Europe scales offshore wind, the pressure on these critical assets is intensifying—while repair capabilities remain constrained. Is Europe ready? Explore how IMR is shifting from operational necessity to strategic priority, and why strengthening resilience is now essential to secure the energy transition. MRD — Modular Repair Deck

The Modular Repair Deck (MRD) is Nexans’ next-generation subsea repair asset, designed for both shallow-water and offshore operations. Compatible with a wide range of vessels, the MRD standardizes mobilization and repair methodology, drastically reducing deployment time and strengthening global repair readiness for offshore wind farms and interconnectors.

SURFICAL — Surface Inspection and Control Algorithms

SURFICAL applies 3D scanning and cable-tailored algorithms to maximize quality control during on-site cable installation. Where joint inspection once relied on visual checks alone, SURFICAL enables defect-free installation and overcomes long-standing reliability limitations, a step change in downstream quality assurance for high-voltage cable systems.

Overhead Lines (OHL)

Nexans’ overhead line solutions will also be featured at the booth, reflecting the company’s continued investment in reliable, high-performance conductor technologies for evolving transmission grid needs.

Superconductivity

Building on projects such as SCARLET, Nexans continues to advance high-temperature superconducting (HTS) cable technology, a pathway to higher-capacity, lower-footprint power transmission for the grids of tomorrow. Visit the booth to discuss the latest progress in this field.
