Nexans Climate Day 2024

Raising awareness of climate issues

For 120 years, Nexans has played a key role in global electrification. We are committed to sustainably electrify the future.

To deepen our environmental engagement, in 2020, we launched our first Nexans Climate Day, an international event featuring a dozen ecosystem experts.

The event aims to raise awareness of climate issues, share experiences and design concrete solutions for sustainable electrification.

The world has entered a new era where the global need for electrification is growing fast. Nexans is at the forefront of this electrical revolution: we produce, transport, distribute and use sustainable electricity.

Nexans followed up the inaugural Paris event with two successful sequels: Stockholm in 2021 and New York in 2022. Our fourth Climate Day will be held in Rabat, Morocco, in September 2024.

Climate Day 2024
“Sustainable Electrification for Energy Transition – A Real Opportunity for Africa”

This fourth Climate Day, to be held in Rabat, Morocco, will deepen the discussion surrounding climate challenges in Africa, develop investment opportunities in renewable energies and generate actionable solutions to support energy transition.

An array of experts – including Moroccan government officials, industry leaders, and institutional stakeholders – will address several crucial questions:

  • Can Africa overcome the lack of access to electricity in some regions and initiate a low-carbon transition?
  • How can Africa’s electrification generate positive economic and environmental impacts?
  • How can electricity be supplied from renewable sources, while guaranteeing convenient, affordable and reliable access for communities?

Climate Day 2022
“Sustainable Solutions for the Energy Transition”

Nexans’ third Climate Day was held on September 21, 2022, in New York, as part of Climate Week NYC.

The day featured key speakers and panelists from the public and private sectors, journalists, environmentalists and energy leaders. Discussion covered the following topics:

  • next steps for tackling the climate change challenge head on
  • the future of offshore wind and how it contributes to energy independence for the US
  • building the US supply chain to support the growth of clean energy and increasing demand for electrification

Climate Day 2021
“Sustainable Electrification – Making Climate Vision a Reality”

The second Climate Day was held in Stockholm, Sweden, and addressed the challenges in driving sustainable global electrification, as well as the key role of the energy sector in the fight against climate change.

Nordic energy specialists, business leaders, influencers and regulators debated several topics: Sweden’s electrification strategy; the need to invest €4,400 billion by 2030 to renew aging power networks and drive global electrification; and the role of offshore wind and solar power in the transition from oil and gas to renewable energies.

Climate Day 2020
“The Call of the Planet for a Sustainable Electrification”

The first Climate Day was held on 22 September 2020 in Paris, under the patronage of French photographer and environmentalist Yann Arthus-Bertrand. It sought to answer the following questions:

  • What will our new energy systems look like? What obstacles lay in our path?
  • How can we safely make the transition without service interruptions for consumers?
  • Will resources for equipment last?
