GENERATED OF WIND TURBINES
MAXIMUM VOLTAGE
OF OFFSHORE CABLES
The contract for 36 kV submarine power cables to connect wind turbines to the offshore substation includes ancillary equipment and installation production area.
About the project
The Riffgat wind farm, covering an area of 6 square kilometers, will comprise 30 wind turbines providing a peak capacity of 108 megawatts (MW), sufficient to meet the needs of around 100,000 households.
Nexans' solutions
Nexans Germany designed and manufactured just over 24 km of 36 kV XLPE submarine infield cables to interconnect the wind turbines and to linked them to the offshore transformer substation. Nexans in Norway was responsible for the cable installation which included engineering, laying the cable and pulling in each cable end to the wind turbines, as well as protection of the cables on the seabed using the specialized Capjet trenching machine.
