A world-first in France at Montparnasse train station: Nexans installs superconducting cables to strengthen and secure the power supply
Together with its partners, Nexans won a project, from Bpifrance, for the installation of two superconducting DC cables near Montparnasse station in Paris. This is the first time that cables of this type will be integrated into a rail network and is set to be the first permanent installation in France on any network.

Nexans has been awarded a contract by AMSC to produce a cable for the Resilient Electric Grid (REG) project in Chicago, US. The cable, together with a special jointing system, will be deployed in a Commonwealth Edison (ComEd) substation.

Nexans completes successful qualification testing of ‘Best Paths’ superconductor cable for HVDC power links
EU-funded ‘Best Paths’ project has created a new modular HVDC superconductor cable system designed for bulk power transmission over long distances with minimal resistive losses.Test program has qualified the 320 kV direct current superconducting cable for currents up to 10 kA with a 3.2 GW power transmission capability.
