"Traffic is expected to grow faster than Moore’s Law, with a 10-fold increase in the next 4 years, a 100-fold increase in the next 8 years, making todays traffic in 2007 just 1% of the traffic expected in 2015!" Deutsche Telekom
Independent data shows that 40G and 100G bandwidth will be required in data centres within 5 years.
It is vital to plan a cost effective migration strategy in both copper & fibre.
Copper migration to 40G
Nexans LANmark-7A solution uses the internationally standardised GG45 connector to support existing RJ45 connectivity up to 10G today, whilst allowing upgrade potential to 40G in future.
Fibre migration requires the use of parallel optics. LANmark-OF MPO solutions enable 40G/100G transmission simply by replacing the LC cassette with an MPO adaptor in the patch panel.
Includes presentations from Dr. Alan Flatman and Nexans which examine some of the bandwidth issues driving developments within IEEE and potential migration solutions.
