Tubes of MCP material can be employed to both exclude and trap flux. Their use for shielding conventional LTS magnets is under investigation as well as their potential to trap flux offering magnets with no joints which can thus be run in persistent mode and used either in isolation or as booster coils in background field. Tubes have also been shown to hold potential for inductive fault current limitation.
Nexans Superconductors manufactures tubes with diameters from 26 mm to 200 mm and in lengths up to 400 mm. Wall thickness can be varied from 2 to 6 mm.
We collaborate with a number of research groups and commercial organisations, supplying material and exchanging experience, expertise and results. To discuss available tube sizes or to discuss your research topics with our own development group contact us today.
