Nexans gains the coveted ISO 13485 quality management standard for the manufacture of its NEWSENSE® medical microcables
ISO 13485 standard is the very highest quality standard applied in the medical device industry NEWSENSE® cables cover both invasive and non-invasive applications
Paris, July 23, 2015 – Medical industry customers using Nexans’ NEWSENSE® medical microcables now have the added confidence that their cables are manufactured to the very highest quality standard applied in the medical device industry. This follows the success of Nexans’ Draveil plant in Paris, France in achieving the coveted ISO 13485 certification that covers the production, development and quality control processes for medical devices and their components.
“Achieving the ISO 13485 standard is a critical step that opens up new horizons for Nexans as the continuous stream of breakthroughs in medical technology demand ever smaller and more complex cables that deliver the highest levels of quality and reliability,” said Thierry Malvache, Nexans Product Manager for the NEWSENSE® cables. “Our Draveil plant has always maintained the very highest quality standards and this certification is an important third-party verification of our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement.”
Nexans has developed the NEWSENSE® medical microcables to enable manufacturers to build more convenience and intelligence into investigative, diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. The prime beneficiaries are surgeons, physicians and patients who appreciate their safety, comfort and cosmetically discrete design. For example, Nexans produces invasive microcables dedicated to trans-catheter technology in cardiovascular electrophysiology. These cables transmit sensor data for guiding surgeons in real time. Nexans also offers invasive “lead-in wires” for stimulation probes, and customized cable solutions for endoscopy.
The NEWSENSE® range also contains numerous non-invasive cables for imaging applications. It includes hybrid multi-function cables for large imaging systems, like radiography, magnetic resonance imaging/MRI, computer tomography, nuclear camera/scanners, and multi micro-coaxial cables for ultrasound probes.
