In its International Research Center NEXANS is developing a new Graded Index Plastic Optical Fiber for data transmission, made of ultra high purity polymer material.
  
It can already be obtained in different diameters with excellent transmission characteristics. A range of products including ribbons, LAN single and duplex cables, aeronautics cables, is elaborated and tested with the support of NEXANS worldwide R&D and Industrial organisation. Intrinsic properties of plastic greatly facilitate handling and allow the use of simplified cutting tools and easy to install connectors.
The range of POF (Plastic Optical Fiber) products holds the promise of high performance, low cost and easy to install transmission links.
